Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) is a talking therapy that can help you change the way you think and behave, helping you to manage and overcome your problems. CBT is widely used to help people suffering with anxiety and depression but is also used to help overcome a wide range of problems and issues (see list below)
CBT tackles negative thoughts and beliefs to break the cycle of dysfunctional and destructive thought and behaviour patterns. The way we think about situations can often affect the way we feel and behave. By working to identify and challenge negative beliefs held about ourselves, it is possible to remodel those limiting thoughts and beliefs to bring about positive behavioural change.
CBT works through the concept that you feel the way that you think. Therefore by changing your thoughts and the way that you think to be more healthy and positive you can access a more happy and productive life. CBT gives you tools and strategies to allow you to work with focus towards your goals, allowing you to approach emotional problems in a systematic way. It encourages you and brings awareness to a greater understanding of your thoughts and beliefs and how these affect your emotional and behavioural responses.
Some of the issues that can be helped with CBT:
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a form of complementary therapy that utilises the power of positive suggestion to bring about subconscious change to our thoughts, feelings and behaviour. Hypnotherapy enables the client to become more aware of and better able to utilise thoughts, memories, perceptions to bring about positive well being. By working with the client through a deep state of relaxation it is possible to by-pass blockages and critical limiting beliefs to bring about change to the way a person thinks, feels and behaves.
Hypnotherapy can be used to help the following:

How many sessions will I need?
At the initial consultation, an indication of how many sessions will be needed will be given. There is a constant review process with each session where progress is monitored and recorded to make sure that you are making the most progress from your sessions.
What will the session be like?
A welcome chat to encourage you to feel relaxed and comfortable. Each session is tailored to your unique and specific issues. The session will embed and develop the positive changes made so that you can reach your goal with a deeper sense of self awareness. As with all forms of therapies, the success and time taken to reach these goals is also reflected by the desire and commitment to change by the client.
Each session will last approximately one hour and there may be exercises given to carry out at home between sessions to ensure that the work is embedded fully.
What happens in hypnotherapy?
You will be guided into a state of deep physical and mental relaxation. Once deeply relaxed, I will work with the subconscious part of your mind through the use of suggestions to facilitate change, helping you work towards and achieve your goals. Once the 'change work' is complete, you will be guided through the transition to wakefulness, in which you are gradually brought out of hypnosis. Clients find the sessions very therapeutic and relaxing, reporting an increase in the quality of sleep.
What will being in hypnosis feel like?
People experience being in a hypnotic state many many times during their day to day life. If you have ever arrived at work and can not remember the journey driven to get there, then you will have experienced being in a hypnotic state. The reason for this happening is that everything you learn is filed in your subconscious, rather like files being stored on the hard drive of a computer. Because the principles of how to drive are already stored in your subconscious, your conscious mind can drift.
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation, where the subconscious is receptive to suggestions to bring about positive change. You will be aware of what is happening and your surroundings, so you are in control throughout the session. Clients find being deeply relaxed in hypnosis very beneficial and the benefits of this relaxation continue beyond the session itself.
Can I be made to do something against my will?
You can not be made to do anything that goes against your values or what you believe to be acceptable forms of behaviour. Because you are fully in control, you are able to come out of hypnosis at any point you wish.
